What do parents feel they should force their children to do??

When you accidentally anger kids they can really change. Like when you yell at a very sensitive child he/her may tend to say words they've heard in their heads like F_ _K.  And when your child is a loner in school they might feel depressed and cry, some parents get annoyed with crying think that discipline will help, but yes if your smart you will find out whats depressing your child and help.

P.S. don't be to eager on the lecture, some people find them annoying

You are right.  Part of being a good parent is being there for your child and helping them through their problems.  Yelling doesn't help anything.  It could be that your parents yelled out of frustration because they wanted to help you but didn't know how...but it certainly doesn't make it any easier when you are the one getting yelled at.  From my own experience when I was growing up, the more my parents yelled, the less I wanted to turn to them when things got rough, as they so often do when you are a teenager.  Hopefully your parents will quit yelling and start listening.  If you have things you want to talk about, there are plenty of us in this forum who will be glad to listen.

Good point. It's something we all should remember as parents. Apparently, even God felt this way as it says in the Bible:

Fathers, do not provoke your children,
lest they become discouraged. Colossians 3:21
