What's up with the clothes

I have a 4 1/2 yr old boy we are having problems with.  He has decided that he doesn't want to wear jeans to school only sweat pants and only a certain kind of sweat pant. I went out and bought him 6 pairs of different colors.  One day he likes on pair and the next he won't wear it.  He sometimes only wants to wear the same one everyday.  We have even tried to pick clothes out the night before, give him 2 choices and that still ends in tantrums.  Like today his tantrum was so bad we missed school because he didn't like the choices I gave him and told me no straight to my face.  I have tried time outs and today I removed all toys and TV from his room.  We don't understand what the deal is and why is acting the way he is.  One day a shirt is good and the next he doesn't like it.  We need advice.

I have to agree to let this one go.  My sister wore the same outfit for almost an entire school year.  It was always clean; and so was she.  It drove everyone crazy except for her.  She still made friends and was very happy.  I never understood it and would rather have died as a child than wear the same thing daily.  To each his own I suppose.

When my son was 4,  he wore the exact same outfit every single day for about 4 months.  I was so embarrassed,  but his preschool teacher said don't fight it,  no one cares what he wears - he's always clean,  no problem.

Don't fight this,  it's not worth it.  Do you have a washing machine?  (If not,  this would be very hard).  Just pop the clothes he wore that day into the wash and drier when he goes to bed,  he has all the choices when he gets up,  let him pick and be out the door.

Ya gotta pick your battles - this one isn't worth it.  Best wishes.  Before you know it you'll be packing him for college.

No, because one day he loves the shirt and the next he doesn't.  He is not a picky eater, loves to eat and even tries new things. That's why it's so frustrating because one day it's good and the next it's not

Are you dealing with a sensory issue?  Do the tags in the backs of shirts or seams in socks bother him?  Does he only eat a few foods?
