Worried about my daughter

Hello.
I have been concerned about my 10yr old daughter. About a year ago, we noticed that she had been pulling out her eye lashes and eyebrows, almost to the point of her not having any lashes. We brought her to the child psychologist, and they suggested counseling sessions which we did. After about a month it seemed as though that issue had subsided. However, I just recently noticed that she may be beginning this with her scalp. I've noticed somewhat of a loss of hair from the top of her scalp.
Has anyone else gone through this? How did you remedy it?
Thanks!

This condition, trichotillomania, is a form of impulse control disorder and it tends to be quite difficult to treat. Sometimes a combination of cognitive behavioral therpay (CBT) and pharmacological treatment can be effective, but it is a stubborn condition. It is sometimes mistakenly thought of as an anxiety disorder, but it is not. However, it is true that the condition tends to worsen under conditions of stress.
