adderall-when should I see start seeing results

by MMP, Dec 27, 2001 12:00AM
My 6 1/2 yr old son has just started taking 5 mgs of adderall (adderrall) a day(once in the morning)--when should I start seeing positive results?? He has only taken it for 2 days now, but I have not observed him to be more "focused"- on the contrary he seems more hyper and easily angered(pacing a lot and saying he is bored--pushing his 2 yr old sister when she doesnt want to play with him)-- and he still jumps from one activity to the next.

Also, when should I see the side effects dissipate(the weepiness, sleeplessness, quick to anger...)

P.S.-- he is also on 100 mgs of Topamax for seizures(he has only had one seizure)--  I don't know if the mixing of meds might be an issue-- but Peditrician- said no.
--Thanks

Results with stimulant medications, such as Adderall (adderrall), are witnessed right away, provided the dose is correct. Sometimes this takes some time to determine. If the effects you describe continue, particularly at this small dose, you'll likely have to try a different medication. But there's no need to make that decision so soon. Give it a bit of time.
