I have discovered that my 20 yr. old daughter has been consuming large amtès of alcohol. I have found empty bottles of tequila, rum, rye etc hidden around the house. Lately she has been taking alcohol from us and replacing it with water. This behaviour would be unacceptable for a 14 yr. old let alone a 20 yr. old. She is bulemic (which she says is under controlControl Control rx) At age 16 she began cutting herself. I believe this has been in remission for 2 years. She has been treated for depression in the past and has been relatively stableStable angina Unstable angina until now. She goes to university full time and is able to work on weekends.
I have talked, screamed, given her ultimatums re: her drinking habits. I am concerned for her health as well as her safetyChild safety seats Home safety Safe driving for teens Safety. She refuses treatment at this point. She tells me she is trying to stop and promises not to drink, but the minute I leave her alone in the house she drinks. Sometimes alcohol that is in the house, other times alcohol she has purchased VISA. I donèt want to make her leave but I canèt live with the lies and deceipt. Please any advice. She has been to 2 previous therapists which gave temporary help. I donèt know what triggered this spiral- things were looking up until the last 2 months.
I don't mean to sound judgemental but, why do you have alcohol in your house, where she lives, when you know that she has issues with alcohol? An alcoholic can not have free access to alcohol and be expected not to drink it.
