Dear Tish,

Such a reaction immediately after an occurrence such as an earthquake is entirely normal. If all was well before the event, your son should gradually return to his pre-event status. If, after a month or so, that does not occur, seek some professional intervention. But for now, be supportive and patient. Insist, of course, that he attend school - do not allow him to avoid his normal routines and activities.
