can a trauma affect a childs speach

I have a four year old son, who is having problems with his speach. He's getting extra done at school too help with this, and at home, but i've noticed from a certain thing that happened last year, were he saw a member of the family shot, that his speach as gotten worse, could this off affect it too?

It's possible that traumatic events can result in changes in behavior of various sorts, though the episode is not likely to have been chiefly responsible for speech/language problems in your son. The most likely way in which an impact can occur is if a child regresses or becomes somewhat 'stuck' in development or in the achievement of developmental tasks as part of a response to trauma.
