can hear buzzing or like an alarm going off comming from the inside can hear plainly on the outside

My grandson has a buzzing in his ear so loud u can hear it on the outside when u hug him, what is this and what caused this?

It sounds like severe Tinitus.. That annoying ringing and buzzing you get in your ear sometimes. or it could be something else if his ear hurts. take him to his pediatrician and see what they say

Well tinnitus can be heard in our own heads but by other folks , hey I havent heard of that , does anyone know ...help

How long has it been happening?  I've heard of insects in the ear, but it seems like he would know if one was there.  In an article I read, the bug was discovered by a doctor by its noise.

If you yourself wear hearing aids, maybe you are hearing the buzzing of your hearing aid battery when you put your head up against your grandson's?  Or (if he is little and can't tell you) is there any possibility he has a small hearing-aid battery stuck in his ear canal?  I know those things sound far-fetched, but it does sound like (if the noise is really coming from him) something is in his ear that is causing the noise, and a bug or a tiny electronic that makes noise are the only things I can think of.  I don't think tinnitis can be heard by another person.  

Take him to a doctor and have him checked ... if it's a foreign object in his ear, it needs to be out of there before it does big damage.

In OBJECTIVE tinnitis,  a clinician can actually hear the sound eminating from the patient's ears.

In SUBJECTIVE tinnitis,  only the patient himself can hear it.
