child acting like a dog
my daughter is turning 5 this week and she likes to act like a dog. She crawls around, barks and wants to be pet. She knows there is a time a place for it, but my grandma thinks that she has a low self esteem and thinks she is no better than a dog. I do not think this is the case, since she is a fun, creative, active child.

my daughter is 21 but when she was about 4or 5 she did the same thing. at first i thought it was cute i to became a little worried. i didnt make a big deal about it she was having fun wasnt hurting herself or others was a very happy child. she later moved on to other intrests
Hi my daughter is 4 years old and also likes to pretend shes a dog, she barks and picks up toys ect with her mouth.....i just think its harmless play.....my little girl doesnt do this all the time however she loves dogs.....she also likes ro make other animal noises.....she thinks its funny, loves to watch peppa pig too, oh the joys of motherhood ;-)

Probably creative play, not low self esteem, especially if the child likes dogs. If she was pretending to be something she finds loathsome that might be a different story, but it sounds like she is having fun. I remember playing at a friend's farm when we were maybe 8, and we liked to pretend to be horses. We did it because we thought horses were strong and beautiful.
