child stuttering

My son turned 2 in August. He has been speaking very well since the age of 1.  He has a larges vocabulary, and uses sentences and his grammar skills at a level higher than his peers.  He has always developed more quickly than the other children we know at his age.  But recently about a month ago he has began to stutter.  I consider the stuttering to be pretty bad, but he doesnt stutter all of the time.  Mainly with "w" words and I. EX. He will say " wh.. wh...wh..wh..where where where are we going?"  Is this something that I should be concerned about, or is this a normal childhood thing???

My son has the same problem. He was tested at 3 by a Speech and Language pathologist and they said he had above average or High average language skills. Because the stuttering is at the beginning of the sentence, and because it gets better when I can get him to slow down and focus she said it was still considered developmental. They are going to monitor him every 6mths. She also was interested in how aware he was of it and if he was getting frustrated by his stuttering and difficulty communicating.
Hopefully my experiences can help you in your situation.

Some times it is normal especially if they have been around another child who stutters. For right now keep a watch on the stuttering most doctors don't start to worry about it until the child is at least 6 or 7.He may grow out of it.If not he can get help with his speech. He will have to see a speech pathologist.                         good luck
