constant finger movements

my son is 7 years old...he just recently,within' the past few months,started moving his fingers constantly...!!! I was wondering if anyone cuold give me some ideas on what this may be..

Hm.  Is it a tremor type of movement or more like a finger rolling movement?

Does he have any sensory issues?  Is he doing it to stay focused or calm himself?  Is he aware that he is doing it?

it's so weird to explain...i've asked him what he does when he's doing it,,he told me he was cracking his knuckles,..now i'm really at the point i think it's either a habit or something nuero...for say..??? I'm sooo curious as to what this is..!!! I just got him seen by the doc a week ago..,she's not sure what it is yet,he was born at 5 moths and every thing seemed to be fine up until now..i'm just not sure if he even knows he's doing it,my thoughts are that he doesn't..!!!

Hm.  My son does this finger rolling thing and it is subconscious.  He has sensory integration disorder and it is part of that.  His nerve endings bother him . . . we think.  But I would think you'd have some idea he had sensory issues by now . . .

Maybe google sensory and see what you think.  But my son does something like what you describe.  We will give him some deep pressure to the hand (like a hand massage).  It helps.
