My son has been have vocal and motor tic now for about 2 years. I am very concerned for him. I have seen a doctor and the answer i get is we need to try to ignore it. well easier said than done. i have gone on line several times for information on touretts it is really a scary thought. i would like to know is there any treatment beside prescrib. drugs such as change in diet etc?

Is your son otherwise developing in a normal fashion? If the tics are minor and do not interfere with his functioning, you needn't be overly concerned. However, it would be prudent to arrange an evaluation with a pediatric neurologist to clarify the diagnosis (likely TS) and learn about options for treatment. There's no need for alarm - this is a treatable condition, though it is true that developing the proper pharmacological plan can at times be a challenge. This is particularly so if there are any other conditions alongside the TS.
