crying and temperament

I saw a program on TV which addressed the temperament of children
who were very sensitive to change and cried a lot, well past early infancy and this was attributed to temperament and sensitivity. There were suggestions made on how to handle these children, who were extremely difficult and very hard on the parents. Can you please help out with info, resources, support groups, etc.? Thank you
