crying

My son is a very sweet boy.  When he is at school and gets his feelings hurt, he cries at the drop of a hat.  I know this is better than violence and other outlets of anger.  My concern is that now while he is in kindergarten it is fine, but in a few years or less, his friends will start to laugh at him and call him a baby which will exacerbate the problem.  How should we go about helping him cope with his feelings getting hurt and not crying so often?

To be frank, I would not recommend any intervention on your part. At this time of his young life he is sensitive to frustration, but his tolerance will improve over time as he matures. There is no reason to look into the future and imagine you know how he will be acting. There is no way to know this, so it's best not to trouble yourself with such worry. Worrying about things that you cannot control is not worthwhile.

i agree with kevin...dont make a big deal out of it. the best and only thing you can do is to praise him for things he does well or for things he tries his best at, that will boost his confidence. but dont make a big deal of 'oh you dont need to cry over everything' dont say that or draw attention to it.
