daughter eating hair

my 2 year old daughter is eating hair at every opportuinty she gets. myself and my husband constantly go around with the hoover to try avoid some of this, she has started pulling her own hair out plus when she gets her hands on her older sisters dolls shes pulling and eating the hairs from these, she is badly constipated all of the time. we have to get microlax every other week to clear her out&she is on duphlac twice a day. my gp has referred us to a hospital i am currently waiting on an appointment. i am so worried about her especially after looking it up now, i thought it might just be a habit but now reading all the stuff about it im very worried. she is a very intelligent 2 year old and gets a lot of love and attention, she has not got a bald patch but i can see a few hairs missing from the front of hair some days she will pull 1 out and then just throw it away, please help any advice?

I have the same problem with my 2 year old and after she started pooping out hair, I shaved it.  I was really worried it would tramatize her but she is perfectly fine.  She actually thinks its really funny when she looks in the mirror.  Im hoping that by the time it grows out she will break the habit.  And if she still pulls it fine, but hopefully I will be able to sit down and explain to her why she cant eat her hair and why it makes her sick.  Let me know if this helps you at all!
