daughter

My 9 year old daughter went out of town with some relatives she had only briefly met, after this visit they were taking her to see my mom (which she knows well).  While she was just with the relatives she got sick, throwing up and generally not feeling well.  When she got to my moms she still was not eating much and threw up another time.  My husband and I thought it was nerves at first, but 2 other cousins got sick later.  It has now been a month, she stayed with my mom for 3 weeks. She's been back with us for about a week or 2.She still doesn't want to play as much and not eating well. She will say her stomach hurts, but other times she is fine. This is so unlike her, I'm taking her to the doctor today, but I really don't know if I should, maybe it's all mental?  Your opinion would be appreciated.

Thanks

Your daughter is simply at the upper end of the spectrum in height and weight, moreso in weight. If she is at the 78% for height, she is not regarded as short. She's not out of the normal ranges from what you describe. Be sure to touch bases with her doctor to see if he/she has any concerns about her weight.

Hi,
My little baby is 19 months old and weigthing at the 30 pounds and is only in the 78% of hieght. she is short and cute. Is that to big or just right? I know that my husband is on the big side and his family, big bone too. Am not my family is on the small side. I guess am a new mom and want my little girl to be healthy.
Thank you.

You are absolutely correct in taking your daughter to the hospital. This is not a trivial or minor complaint, and you are not overreacting. For a usually healthy child to be experiencing such a prolonged period of malaise is definitely reason to seek medical consultation.
