My daughter sometimes will share her feeling and then quickly dismiss them by saying "I don't want to talk about it"  She is almost 6 years old.  Her teacher says she is interacting well no problems.  She came home last night and out of the blue said that she had a problem at school and said that no one wanted to play with her and sat on the ground with a sad look on her face and was sad.  I ask her about and then quickly said I don't want to talk about it. When she went to bed (her father took her) she wanted me to take her. I had just sat with her and read a book and said that her father can take her.  Her response was I don't like the feelings I am feeling please scare me so I won't feel them. I asked her what she was feeling and she said Sad and I said "because I won't take her to bed?" and she said yes.
Should I be concerned and get her to talk or should not responsed.  I have raised one daughter and we are very close but this one is very different.

It makes sense to ask for her reactions, particularly when she is indicating that something may be on her mind. However, when she comments that she does not want to talk about something, after inquiring about whether you have understood her correctly, if she prefers not to continue I'd respect that stance and not push her to talk. Also, when she comments about being sad (or any other feeling state), ask her what the sadness is about without suggesting what it might be about.

Yes you should push her to talk about it!!!!!!!   She is only 5, (almost 6).  You should encourage her to communicate as much as posssible.   If she does not communicate now, she will begin to internalize things when she is older.   When kids don't communicate their innermost feelings as children, they grow up and becoome hard, isolated, withdrawn and sometimes psychotic.  Find healthy ways for her to talk with you without putting pressure on her.  I also have a five year old.
