eyes

my 2 and 3 month year old started excessive eye blinking and making strange mouth and tongue movement at the same time. what is it from? around the same time he had accidentley fell in the pool. it took me 5 seconds to pull him out. can the accident be related to the systoms? He started only doing systoms when watching t.v. now its off and on through-out the day. What could it be?

My son was slightly older and started doing that.  He had other issues surfacing at the time and I was so upset and panicked at the blinking.  I would ask him why he was doing it and he'd say he couldn't help it.  Finally, I decided to completely ignore it and not react at all.  He stopped doing it.  I think he just realized he had control of those eye muscles and could do that.  (also, if in the pool, his eyes could be irritated.)  So before you start thinking of tourettes or something, wait and see if it goes away.  Most likely it will.
