hums

My son is two he will be 3 soon, he does not speak very clear and he constantly hums why is this?

He may just be a late talker. Two out of three of my kids were late talkers and turned out just fine. Still, it may be a good idea to take him to your doctor and ask him for a referral to a speech therapist. See if your insurance will cover speech therapy. As for the humming, that's perfectly normal. Kids this age listen to and love music and will hum the tune either along with the music or to themselves when they remember the song. Keep talking to him, pointing things out to him and saying the words. Look at picture books with him and point to the pictures and say the words. Sing songs with him. All of this will help him with his speech. And if he still is not talking, check into the speech therapy.
