jUST TURNED 3 & VERY SMART..

my grandaughter just turned 3 , she is currently being split between her parents whom were never married,
both parents have new partners ( not married) but living together.while palying with her her the other day she suddenly said Noni get in the corner I wasnt sure where this had come from but I went to the corner and she faced me towards the wall & said YOU STAND THERE and placed my hands behind my back , she then yelled my name twice saying look at me when i'm talking to you, so i did she then said are you sorry , i said yes she said ok next time i will whoop your butt in those exact words, we had alittle talk about this incident and she said her daddys girlfriend does this to her often....even mentioning that this same girl spanked her on her face...in my opinion this is not an appropiate disipline for a 3 yr old , I have been with my daughter at several drs appt & the peditrician has discussed the time out he perfers and that is sitting in a chair for up to 3 minutes ( the age of the child) i think parents need to be on the same page when applying disipline and spanking of any kind is only going to be detrimental to the child....

I totally agree with you , this is not a good thing, the girlfriend should not be hitting a child of 3 years old, speak to your son, I personally do not agree in any way with hitting , she will do it to others at school, most child behavior can be sorted out with giving more attention and focusing on their positive side,The problem is in the child/parent interaction.  It is good she has you, children of this age want love and kindness and they respond ,,discipline and hitting them is not the way .
