I don't understand - in my area children must go to school once they reach six years of age.  It is the law.  If five-year old children must attend school in your area, then that is what is done unless there is a medical exemption.  If the age is six, then parents can keep children out of the educational system, legally, for one more year.  Children do not get to "choose" whether they go to school or not.  Am I missing something?

If your child is "scared" of school, then you will need to deal with this fear through intervention and perhaps some therapy.  It is not the school's job to prepare a child for school; it is that of the parents.  That being said, the school can "help" with ideas and plans and ideas to ease the transition.  But, I'm still not sure what you are asking.
