med question

stepson takes seroquel and remeron.he has PTSD  and psychotic behavior.  question is...with no studies done on these meds w/ children..........and side effects showing up.......like mouth noises, rapid heartbeat, sweating, dizziness, should we be concerned??   we told the dr about the mouth noises 3 months ago, he says its us being worry worts.....normal??  He has also developed problems with school work.  he was tested at 6 and tested 2nd level 3rd grade and now we fight to get him to do math....all he wants to do is sit and look at a book, no interracting nothing.we have started on our own a game/family night to encourage interacting and socializing....he just lays on the table and rolls his eyes into his head and acts as if he is in another world of his own.....i feel like we are going nowhere......any suggestions?

Additional assessment may be in order. From your brief description, the aparent psychotic symptoms seem to be more central to his condition than PTSD might be. In any case, side effects from medications like Seroquel and Remeron can be serious, particularly if they involve the central nervous system. It would be prudent to seek a second opinion.
