my 3and 1/2 yr old son who is late talker and just now he started blinking his eyes

hello,
my son is 3 and 1/2 year  old. He goes  to preschool since 5 months. He doesn't speak properly uptil now.He speaks short sentences with 4-5 words but he cannot explain any sitation. He just speaks keywords then.He is improving days by day but the improvement is slow.i dont kn ow what to do.should i wait for some time or go for speech therapry.since 1 week,he started blinking his eyes abnormally.we went for his eyes chk up,but doctor said its fine.he said he may be going thru some stress ,thats why he is doing it.after that ,i noticed that when we go out then he started blinking his eyes more.may be ,he feels more comfortable at home .because at home ,we understand what he tries to speak or convey to us.i m not telling him to stop blinking his eyes because i dont want him to become more consious of watever he is doing.i m just making him more comfortable of watever he is doing or watever he is speaking to me.i giving him more love and attention .i really don't know ,what to do exactly?please help!

You are correct in not calling his attention to the blinking. It would no do good to call his attention to it, since it is not a voluntray response. The blinking may indicate a transient tic disorder, not particularly associated with his delayed speech/language. Because his delay is so clear, I think you should arrange a speech/language evaluation.
