my 6 year old son, suddenly if terrified to sleep in his own room

by Karm25, Mar 09, 2009 02:40AM
My 6 year old son is suddenly terried to sleep in his own bed. Everynight for the past week when I say it's time for bed he gets teary eyed and says he's scared.
The first few nights he was falling asleep in his own room and was coming into our bed terried and crying. Now it starts when it's bedtime. He's says he's scared and there are ghosts in his room. I try to calm him down and get him back to his own room but he cries histricly. I have tried to be firm with him, that didn't work and I have tried to be calm and gentle with him that's not working either. So I have been letting him sleep in our bed, I don't want to make this a habbit I don't know what to do.
His father is away overseas for a month, could this be triggering this behaviour? If so do I let him sleep in my bed until his father comes back home in a couple of weeks?? I need help

Yes it is okay to let him sleep in your Bed whilst his Dad is away however make it clear that he will sleep in his own room when his Dad comes home,he could be saying there are ghosts to be able to sleep in your room,  what happened prior to this sudden behavior apart from Dad leaving has anything else happened could have upset him? any new visitors, any scary movies on TV , How is school goingm ask Teacher if hes doing okay.

I would swith him rooms. It is very possible that he is seeing somthing. Beleive me I know it to be fact that some people can see what others cant. If he is that scared you go sleep in his room. let him stay in your room. Be completely open minded. You dont want to give him a complex or trust issues, Support him. Give him a paper and crayons and let him draw the ghost. have him tell you all about it. Have a camp out in his room, and have him tell you when he sees it. Pay attention concetrate, if he is seeing somthing. You will now.
