my child uses the toilet very often

My 4 year old child will use the toilet to urinate really often during the daytime, sometimes as often as every 5 minutes. He is dry at night with no problems, which seems to me as though he does have control. Is this normal behaviour? What should do next?

This condition is called pollakiuria and simply means unusual daytime urinary frequency syndrome. It generally develops spontaneously and resolves spontaneously, without specialized intervention. Stress and transitions, change in routines, etc. can contribute to it. It does not invite alarm. Of course, you should have him evaluated by his pediatrician to rule out any infection or underlying medical cause.

Thank you so much, I'll relax about it and maybe he will too!
