I have a severe conversionConversion disorder disorder. There is help. First of all, you need three doctors.
Neurologist, Psychologist, and a good therapist.
There is also a Dr. John Speed at the University of Utah in the Physical Medicine department that is known nationally for his work in this area. What he does is re-trains the brain. It's amazing. He is very good at what he does. He is able to help the majority of people who have this disorder. Good luck, if you have any questions please write.

Hello Laceyday. I have been diagnosed with Conversion Disorder and I also live in Ohio. I see Dr. Pandya at the Cleveland Clinic here in Cleveland, Ohio. He knows about conversion disorder and I've found him to be great to work with. Conversion Disorder is just a real hard thing to work through. Patients and doctors/therapists have to be willing to work together. I found that the Cleveland Clinic was the first place to take me seriously and actually talk to me all about Conversion Disorder until I felt more comfortable. Most people have cast me off in 5 minutes and told me to go live life and I'd be happy eventually. After 3 years of having disabling symptoms of it I got tired and came up here and have finally gotten some progress. So I'd recommend the Cleveland Clinic...if it's too far you can call and maybe they can recommend a professional who is closer to your area. The psychiatry dept number is 216-444-5812 for appointments.
