my son is now 1:1 at school

My son who has been having issues at school is now with a person 1:1.   He says he is happy doing this and does not want to go back to the classroom, I'm concerned about this longterm.  The learning specialist said this will be ok and we should be able to get him back to the classroom.   I am just worried about him.  the doctor wasn't sure i he had ADHD or not.  My mom says put him on meds, try him, but I told her you have to have a prescription and i"m not sure that is best.  We are supposed to be having a mtg with teh behavioral therapist at school who has observed him and supposedly she has a plan. I'm just worried my son doesn't want to return to that classroom..

I agree with the other post try the natural way first I thinking putting them on prescription drugs only makes thing worse.  Just my opinion.  I am looking for a natural way to calm sensory issues myself so if I stuble across something that might be helpful for you ill be sure to post it :)!

that is my point exactly, the meds are not just harmless drugs.  Thanks, I will try that.  I am just a nervous wreck all the time with people giving me advice, change schools, put him on pills ,see if it helps, etc...

Just an idea, why not try some supplements , many times I have read and heard from experts , that antioxidents work well for ADHD so get him B Complex and Vit C  it has also been suggested that fish oil is good , Google for Natural ways to help your child, the prescibed meds often have many side effects. If you scroll down on the ADD and ADHD forum you will find many stories from concerned parents about  meds...Good luck
