pdd child on adderall(adderrall)

pdd child on adderall(adderrall)

I have an 11 year old boy who is pdd.  He's been on several medications including paxil, luvox and imipramine to help with outbursts and some behavioral problems.  The antidepressants did not work and made him extremely beligerant.
He is still on the clonidine and hid dr prescibed Adderall (adderrall) for attention and behavior.
Does anyone have any experience with this drug and autistic or pdd children?  I am alittle worried about ticks, but the dr. said that the clonidine, which is a tick suppresant, should couteract it.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Any of the stimulant medications have the potential for resulting in motor tics, chiefly of the facial muscles but not exclusively so. However, if your son has no history of tics and there is no family history of tics or other neurological phenomena, the chances of his developing tics is not significant. It sounds like the treatment is very reasonable.

My five year old is PDD and has been on numerous medications, including Adderall (adderrall) and other stimulants for ADHD symptoms. Nothing had really worked. At times we see improvement, then suddenly we have side effects without any changes in her medications. The Adderall (adderrall) seemed to help her at first, taking 2.5 mg in AM and 5 mg at lunch, then her behaviour changed for the worse. She became very irritiable and moody. We tried Celexa for a antidepressant and that made her behaviour worse. Currently, we are on Clonidine 4 times a day,Risperdal 2 times a day with 2.5 Adderall (adderrall) at lunch only. We are still looking for the right drug combination that will last.
