please help i cant stop picking n its ruining my life!!

i no this is so silly but i cant stop picking at my face. i dont get many spots-and when i do they are only very small pimples. however for the past few years i havent been able to stop myself from picking. and its not just normal squeezing i will pick and scratch at the same place for hours,making horrible ugly huge open wounds/scabs which i can not cover. i no it sounds stupid n my boyfriend keeps saying just stop then u wont be so upset of the mess u have made but its not that easy. when i do pick i wont go out the house for days-sometimes weeks,until it has healed.then a few days later i will do it all over again. its stopping me from doing everything i love,going to work,seeing family and friends n going out in the evening but still i cant stop. i have tried talking to my councillor about this-which was very very hard.unfortunatly she didnt seem to no anything that could help,or seem to no why i cant stop doing this. i have been of work for over 2 months now-and everytime i think im ready (healed) to go back,i pick again. i have put signs on all my mirrors and have put pictures around the house of the mess i have made of my face but nothing seems to work. i want to stop so badly and i feel so stupid for not being able to even tho i no what will happen when i do!also is there anything u can reccomend to heal scars?bio-oil just causes more spots!!and is there anything to help heal open wounds?i picked yesterday and it was a tiny pimple u could barely see unless i used my magnify mirror n now it is easily the size of a 1p coin and a open wound and very very sore!!!please please help me i feel so down and out of control with all this!!!thanks x

This level of compulsive behavior requires pharmacological treatment. Therapy alone will not solve the problem. Arrange an appointment with a psychiatrist. He/she will prescribe amedication that will lessen your urge to pick at your wounds.
