potty training

Hello!

My 2 1/2 year daughter is potty trained and doing really well.  She has been in underpants for about 4-5 months.  However, she really wants to wear underpants to bed, but cannot seem to make it throught the night without wetting the bed.  Maybe 1 or 2 nights the bed will be dry all night, then every night after it will be wet.  We've gone back to wearing diapers over night, but this really upsets her and makes for a struggle every bedtime.  I tried waking her up before I went to be to have her use the bathroom, but she sleeps so soundly that I can't get her to "go potty".  Is this a problem that will resolve itself as she gets older/bigger? (She is quite tiny, only 22 pounds at 30 months old)  Is there some other technique that we can try?  She really wants to wear underpants at night like her 4 year old sister.  Thanks for your help.

There is no way to tell for sure if this will improve, because a certain small percentage of boys and girls remain enuretic at night through their childhood years. However, it is very probable, particularly in light of the young age she achieved dryness during the day, that this will be fine as time goes on. There really is no other route to go except to tell her, in a supportive way, that you have the same goal she does, and that when she's persistently dry in the morning she can dispense with the diapers.

Have you tried the pull-ups for overnight? they ARE meant to look like underwear.  perhaps emphasize that the pull-up were like underwear especially for learning to be dry overnight.
