When does a new-born or premature baby begin to fix its eyes and look at a specific subject or object?

how preemie is your baby? my 27 weeker had weak eye muscles like all preemie`s and they rolled alot but the muscle's get stronger and stronger each week. all preemie's under 30 weeks have some r.o.p

Can you be a little more specific?  How premature and what exactly are you wanting them to fix their eyes on?  Are there questions about vision problems with your baby?  Your ped would be the best to ask about this.
