puberty/sttange behavior

by concernedmother155, Jul 14, 2007 12:00AM
I am very concerned.  My son is 13 years old and I saw him wearing girl underwear.  What does this mean?  I don't know if he is masturbating in them or if he just likes the way he feels.  Is this normal due to the changes he is experiencing?  He is just beginning to go through the puberty process.  (hair on his legs, bigger penis).  He is very immature but I know he is getting sexually curious.  What can I do?

As with many particular behaviors, it's not possible to give you a straightforward, unambiguous reply. The behavior certainly can be harmless and nothing at all to worry about. It can reflect your son's developmental changes, and in that sense it is not unheard of by any means. Can it indicate some confsion or worry on his part? Yes, that's possible was well. Are you or his father comfortable talking with him about this? What was his reaction to your having seen him in the underwear? Only bk knowing his perception is it possible to determine what the behavior 'means' to him. But it is certainly true that many normal, well-adjusted teens at times dress in the underwear of the other sex, due to curiosity, exploration, erotic feelings, etc. I imagine you will hear from some of our readers who have their own accounts to share.

To: Same questions?
I just caught my 10 year old boy trying on my underwear last night.  He was very embarrassed.  He said he does not know why he did it.  I was taken off guard and do no know what to think.  My husband thinks he is just curious and nothing to worry about but I just don't know.  Can anyone else help us?
