reactive attachment disorder

reactive attachment disorder

i was told 1yr ago my son has rad, he is 10yrs 3mths and is in foster care by my will.his carers have spoke to his psychologist as they say he seems to be stuck in the age range of 5-6 yrs old , he learns things and then forgets how to do things. is this "being stuck" possible with rad and if so for how long or could he have the wrong diagnosis. his brother has TS,learning difficulties mild adhd and mild asd and his sister may have mild asd and expressive language disorder.also all i can find on rad is it's caused by abuse/neglect and that never happened he was well loved and i could never understand his behaviour, iwas a young mum and felt dazed the day he was born but soon adjusted and loved him surely that can't cause him to have rad.

It is true that reactive attachment disorder can result from abusive or neglectful experiences early in life. However, failure to establish the ability to form trusting relationships can occur when early life experiences, for wahtever reason, are not adequate to promote trust and security.

It sounds like your son has some developmental immaturity in the emotional sense, and this often does accompany reactive attachment disorder. In other words, the very condition interferes with normal development in the social and emotional domains.
