school behavior

Hi I have a foster child who is seven years old and we are having problems with this child in school.  He is very bright, but doesn't easily listen to what he is being told.  His background is abused by mother. Repeatedly beaten and locked in room.  Tied under sink and left for hours.  Child does not answer questions unless you repeat them about 4 times.  Very babyish for his age.  Help Please.

The dear Boy it is great he has you in his life now, I feel so sorry he was treated so badly by his Mom.,one cannot ever understand how it could happen but it does. You are obviously giving him a lot of love and positive attention, he probably does'nt concentrate too well, experts now are telling Parents to give their children food supplemnts for concentration and learning difficulties,a Multiple vitamin-mineral supplement with VitB Complex and Vit C also Fish oil check his diet make sure he has nutritious food.If there is a Dad around get him involved or your self with lots of outside activities and sports children love to be Physical and it will give him something as an energy outlet .Good Luck to you and him I am glad he has found you, please let us know how he is doing.
