school going Fear

1. My son is 6 and half years old. very recently he has developed fear going to school. he starts saying at night that he will not go to school tomorrow. in the morning he starts crying and says he does want to go to school.
2. he is intelligent and but he does not take interest in studies, can not concentrate, tries to avoid the homework.

I suspect your son is suffering from anxiety.  I might suggest you google the term "school refusal" or "easing school jitters" or "childhood anxiety" or similar phrases to find more information to help you.  If this "refusal" continues, it might be prudent to talk to your son's pediatrician or family doctor about additional help.  Anxiety is an emotional, mental and physical disability and, with proper intervention, a child can learn how to manage his fears/stresses/anxieties.  By the way, anxiety is an inherited genetic trait just as your son's eye colour is an inherited genetic trait.  It is better to seek help as soon as possible before these behaviours become ingrained as part of his personality (in other words, it is easier to treat a young child than a teenager).

The homework issue is very common with children suffering from anxiety - frankly, they have had all of the school they can handle in one day and so, often it is best not to push that aspect (especially at six years of age).  Would his teacher be agreeable that he not always complete his homework (assuming he is too stressed to do so?)  I expect you will require an doctor's script in order to get this privilege.  Anxiety is an emotional disorder and if the brain has to choose between emotional or cognitive duties; it will choose emotional every time.  This is why your son is unable to concentrate in school - his brain will not allow him that right.   I assume there are other issues as well - sleeping, eating, toileting, social and possibly tantrums/frustrations.  Hope this helps ...
