There's no need to reply to the comment beyond asking him 'What do you think of that?' In other words, offering no 'editorial comments' is the best approach.
Thank you, I agree that the best approach is no approach however my daughter did ask him how did it make him feel and he said " I feel like I want to throw-up". So far there has been no other comments from him in the past few days. My husband seems to think that some of the older boys in school might have bought in one of those dirty, girly magazines and all the boys might have gather around in the bathroom to look at it and didn't understand what they were looking at. He told her to just leave it alone and he will forget about it all by himself.
Yes, I agree it is very unusual and at this point his mother doesn't know how to handle it or what to say the next time my grandson says this to her. Any suggestions on how she should handle it. Guaranteed, it will come up again.
It is very normal for young boys to experience erections. What is unusual is his association of the erections with the experiences he describes. This is not to say that there is anything abnormal going on - it's simply unusual for a child of six to draw such associations.
