speech delay/sensory disorder

My child has never been quite normal, she crawled at 1year and walked at 16 yet she ate with a fork at 9 months and fork and knife(plastic) by 16 months, shes very creative and knows exactly what she wants however when she does not speak well yet at all. she is now 2 and even when i tell her to repeat words such as her brother benjamin she says menjnin when i ask her what she wants she'll answer yes and no until she gets what she wants but rearly has the word for it, i was told when she was young that she has a sesory disorder, she didnt stop crying from day one until she started to crawl. and now i am concerned about her speech, i live in ukraine now so western style medicine is a bit hard to comeby so i was wondering if this is normal how long should i wait before getting help, is there anything i can do to help her out. she is so frustrated.

At two it is very normal for children to miss pronounce words. I wouldn't really be terribly consernded with anything yet. Early intervention is key but it also imppossible to give a child under three an acurate diagnosis for most disorders. If she has sensory issues you should try looking online for a sensory diet.  AS for speech the best things is modeling speech in sound during play. Research the greenspan/floortime meathod, it is a great way to provide your child in home therapy, that you can do yourself, that will help her speech and development.

I live in Monroe,WA in the USA and am a nurse.
Please take your daughter to a Neurologist. They will do the appropriate testing & make the right referrals for various sensory integration therapies.
Early intervention is so important--please don't wait long.

God Bless!
