Have a 4 yr old granddaughter, she is very defiant if she does't want to do something, she will ignore everyone, or continue doing what she wants. She  is physically very rough with her 10 month old brother and is physicallly mean to her 5 yr old sister.  They tried talking to her, putting her is timeout and at times spanking her.
It seems when she rough, that at times she doesn't realize just how rough she is.

Spanking her will only affirm her behavior. It shows her that violence is ok. I know that certainly won't help.

Diva is correct it will make the issue worse, she is jealous of the attention her brother is getting, focus on her positive side and praise her when you see her doing something right .
