the life span of sperm

I know this will sound weird but please bare with me.
After an orgasm and all the semen is released, how easy is it for the sperm to get around. If semen gets on my hand (small amount) and should I contact a door handle could a female spread it to herself , like cross contamination. Also if I bath right after an orgasm and use soap will I kill all the sperm or would you need to like scrub?
1.) So I guess my real question is how much washing is needed to remove(kill) the sperm on me after I orgasm.
2.) And to prevent it from being a possiable source of pregency.

i am trying to get pregnant and i was wondering if i should wait till the day i ovulate to have intercourse or if the sperm will live inside me for a couple of days and still get me pregnant?
