toilet training

hi my child is 4 and will not have a poo on the toilet, but he has been having a wee on the toilet since he was 3 years old, i cant understand why he will not have a poo he screams if you sit him on the toilet, even when i just try to talk to him about it he doesnt want to hear about it, i don't know what to do because he starts infants school soon and he will be at school from 9-3 oclock every day, when he does want a poo he brings me a nappy and demands me to put it on him cause thats the only way he will have a poo, i need this sorting out so i can get him clean during the night as well as he still wears a nappy for bed, but hes fine in the day just having a wee, can you please give me some advice please.
