twitching and domperidone

by oldermom2003, Oct 29, 2008 06:17PM
My 5 year old son occasionally twitches his right shoulder.  I took a lot of domperidone to produce more milk for quite a while.  I'm wondering if these two are connected.  My friend is studying the brain and said that dopamine is very important. Domperidone does something to dopamine receptors.  Can you explain... please.  I am pretty worried.

This discussion is related to 3-1/2 yr old son has unusual muscle twitching.

To: actually it's his left shoulder --- history
Hi again.  I just sat here watching him, and it's not his right shoulder but his left shoulder.  He brings his head to his shoulder...often!  He shrugs his left shoulder as if to bring his ear or the left side of his head to his shoulder.

2 years ago I took him to a homeopath for adenoid issues, and in addition to homeopathic remedies, she prescribed an adult vitamin mixture that was designed for adults that had some odd stuff like silver etc in them, she prescribed a strong fish oil, and this powder probiotic that is for adults as well.  I gave my son this conconction, and he ended up having a reaction---turned pale, seemed out of it, and twitched all over in his sleep. The health food store told me that he had a toxic dose of the adult vitamin liquid, and he needed to get it flushed out.  I went to the emergency department, and they said that I was crazy to give my son a) any kind of homeopathic remedy that did not have the ingredients in it, and b) any liquid vitamin concoction that had silver, gold and other odd stuff.  He twitched at night for approximately one month.  It eventually subsided, but I notice that whenever he has things with vitamins in them---enriched things---he twitches.

I am wondering if the domperidone and the vitamin concoction have affected him neurologically.  How do I find out?  What tests are required?

In the forum regarding the 3 1/2 year old boy, the doctor mentioned that the twiching could represent some neurological things.  I am wondering, what kind of neurological things?  Could my son have early signs of tourettes?
