8 month old won't eat

Hi -

I have an 8-month old son who doesn't want to eat...especially not formula.  He was diagnosed with acid reflux and has been on Zantac for about a month. THe first month was great, he at like a champ!  BUt, all of a sudden, he has gone back to not wanting to eat.  He only takes 6-8 oz. of solids and about 15 oz. of formula p/day.  The bottles are always a struggle.  He has been consistently dropping in the weight curve and at the last well visit actually lost a little weight. My Dr. has not been able to suggest anything that works.  My husband and I are concerned and have no idea what else to try.  We have tried everything!

He is meeting his milestones, but it seems like he is doing so a little late.  I want to ensure he is getting proper nutrition, as it is so important right now, but don't know how!

Please help!

THank you.

When he is drinking a bottle, have him inclined by at least 45 degrees to prevent the stomach acid from backing up into the esophagus. Never have him lay flat when drink his bottle. It is recommended to eat 5-6 small meals a day, which keeps the stomach acid at more constant levels. Large amounts of stomach acid will be produced for large meals. If he continues to have issues, see your MD. Thank you for your question.
