Baby in pain and not feeding well

Baby in pain and not feeding well

Hi Dr, please help us if you can as we are having problems with our youngest daughter 3 1/2 months)

She seems to be in constant pain, she is bottle fed and at feeding times it is a constant struggle to get her to drink her bottle, it actually feels like we have to force her to feed.

Luckily she seems to be healthy and gaining weight but she is constantly in pain during the day, very unsettled. She lets out crying pains throughout the day, and she would be up during the night around 5-6 times (Every night)

We have tried changing her milk to lactose free and this has helped slightly but she still will not feed properly constantly turning her head away from the bottle during the feed.

At the start we thought colic as her older sister was quite bad with colic although she was much more settled. As time is moving on we are getting more and more worried that it could be something more serious. After many trips to our GP we feel that we are not any further forward, he was unable to give many answers, but we understand that it can be a guessing game.

Today we are going to contact our local feeding clinic and take her there to see if we can get more help.

Would you have any other suggestions Dr, any help at all would be great.

Thanks very much

These suggestions may help: Change the feeding position and should be almost a sitting up position when feeding her. Burp her well. Never lay her down on her back right after eating or ½ hour to 1 hour after feeding. Raise the head of her crib to a 45-degree angle too so she are not flat on her back. Feeding her 5-6 times day does help. If that does not help, then suggest returning to the MD to discuss getting her checked and possible further testing. Thank you for your question.
