Baby won't eat and has never been a good eater.

Other than the eating problem, my boy is doing well in all other areas. He had colic for about 6 months which gradually went away. I breast fed for the first 7 months but for the first 5 or 6, he would cry almost every time he fed. Start and stop and cry and start again. He didn't have reflux b/c we tried meds and it didn't make a difference. He also spit up ALOT.  When we started solids at 6 months, it seemed to make him uncomfortable so I tried again at 7. Things went ok for a couple of months but not great. He started refuses cereal at about 11 months. Won't eat oatmeal. Anyhow, all this to say, he won't eat... For months it's been a struggle. We stopped formula a month ago b/c doc said it was likely making him not hungry since it's like a meal replacement. Also, she said to stop the pureed baby food (even then he would only eating fruit and sweet potatoes). He still won't eat anything other than cheerios, crackers (w/ hummus), yogurt, and raspberries. He used to love cheese... but stopped that recently. He won't even pick up a piece of meat or a noodle... He cries every time I give him something that's not on the previously mentioned list! It's so frustrating. What could be causing this??

He may need to learn how to chew and swallow food. That would not be a reflection on your parenting. Some children just do not know how to do it and need to be taught. They need to learn how to chew and shallow food properly; it is not really an instinct behavior like sucking. Has he been evaluated on how to chew food? If not, then suggest getting him evaluated, by going to your MD, and start therapy so he can start to eat more regular food.
