Growth

My son (Mike) just turned 12 years old and is in the 6th grade.  He is 4'6" and weighs 71 lbs. I am 5'5" and his Mom is 5'3". Note: My wife, my daughter, & myself were all over 5' at this age! Everybody  in school is much taller than my son. When should I be concerned about is height? My family Doctor is not concerned! Is there anything I should do? 2nd Opinion? Is there anything he can eat to help spark his growth?

Please Advise...

Thanks

Dave

I would do an  X-ray of his left hand to see his bone age, my son is 14,5 years old and he has a bone age of 13, That gives an idea how much he still have to grow.

His weight is above the 95th percentile and his height is on the 5th percentile for his age. He is entering puberty soon and will grow until his early 20's so maybe he will reach your height or beyond. Genetics do play a role in children's height. Suggest engaging him in sports, physical activities and eat healthy foods everyday for proper growth / health.
