Hardtime Feeding baby

by joshyu38, Nov 05, 2007 12:16PM
Good day! I guess this is nothing new to you. My baby is almost 11 month old. Since 7 month, he seems hard to feed him solid food. I notice how he want to play most of the time. I gave him cherrios. He removes it in his mouth and try to flip it in the tray. Lately he doesn't want to eat chunk food but before he does. Does baby really have the mood in eating? what happens now, he only eats 2-4 baby spoon of food each meal. I gave him broth with cereal or rice or any baby food or fruits or our food. I gave him formula almost 30 to 35 ounces per day.

His schedule is 9 to 10 am breakfast + 8 ounce of milk with vitamins then by 12:30 to 2pm lunch + 8 ounces. He sleeps for 2 to 3 hrs. When he wakes up another 8 ounces. then by 7 to 8:30 dinner + 8 ounces. Sometimes he sleep by 11 pm and I would gave him milk too before naptime.

Should I wait for him to really like eating and keep this feeding schedule? What do you recommend to do? How much milk intake will keep my baby grow normal level even if he still didn't want to eat that much solid. My pedia just tell to just keep trying. Thanks.

It sounds like he is full from the formula and really does not want the food. I suggest you feed him solid foods before he gets formula. At 11 months he maybe able to use a sippy cup. His intake of formula will go down, which is ok, and he may eat more food. When he wakes up from his nap instead of a bottle, give him a snack  (yogurt and fruit or cheese and cereal). Hope that helps you.
