Healthy or Not???

Is it normal for a 2 1/2 year old boy to be 34" tall and only 19 lbs? I believe my friends son is under weight and would like to know if I'm crazy or if this little guy needs to eat more. It seems as if he stopped growing a year ago. He has been wearing the same pair of shoes (sz 4) for over year now and they fit him great when she bought them, so that means his shoe size hasn't grown in a year. I am very concerned for him. They are raising him as a vegetarian and milk free, but I don't believe he hardly eats. I do think she is nursing him still which is what might be filling him up. Please help!!!

Are you sure his weight is 19lbs? That weight would be below the 5th percentile however, his height is on the 10th percentile for his age. As long as a child is steadily growing, even if it is slow, then they are fine. At the age 2 years old some children become very 'picky' eaters and do not eat as well as they did in the past; and their growing slows down.
