Is his eating out of control?

Is his eating out of control?

He is a very big boy and heis 14 but literally his life revolves around food. If he thinks there is going to be takeout bought he will hover around the person unless he hears they are not buying it or until he gets told to back off. He talks to his food (mostly joking I hope) He rufused to go out with his friends more then once because he thought I would be bar-b-queing and he did not want to re heat it or have something else. I refuse to buy sugar cereals for the most part I think in the past 12 months we have bought 3 boxes of sugar cereal. My grandma bought a box of honey nut cheerios. He thanked her with a big hug then grabbed the box and ran to his room huggin the box it was a fight to get it away from him. He has gained approx. 30 pds since he came into my care. However he has gone down 2 pant sizes. The doctor told him he was perfectly healthy but I did not have a chance to tell the doctor my concerns. I am not even sure if I concerned about him overeating or just his general attitude towards food. Food is quite literally and honestly his number 1 priority in life. I am very afraid for him. It is like a drug addiction but a food one and no one takes me seriously. I dont know what to do or if I should do anything.

It is important he is active and limit time in front of the TV or non-active-video games / computer. There have been studies showing the longer the length of time a child sit in front of the TV, the greater the weight gain. Suggest you do not have any high sugar drinks / snacks in the house and replace with low fat milk / low fat or fat free yogurt or fruit / low fat popcorn / low fat cheese. High sugar drink and snacks do not give the child nutrients they need. If he is hungry then give him ‘empty’ calorie foods, such as diet jello, air popped popcorn (no oil), and salad with only very little oil and vinegar.

I forgot to mention he eats at least 3 meals 3 snacks a day and some meals include more the two helpings. And the snacks tend to be more like average sized meals especially if I am not watching him at the time.
He can be very active at times and does get involved in sports. But if there is no team for him to be on he is very lazy and he only exercises when he has to for the sports he is playing his coaches as well as many  others have repeatedly told him he needs to run more.
