My 11 month old baby don't want to eat and drink milk

Hi,

My 11 month old daughter does not want to eat porridge and drinks very little milk. Whenever we give her porridge, the most she will take is about 4 tablespoons full a meal (2 meals a day), after that she will shut her mouth and nothing goes in. Then for milk intake, on a very good day she will take in about 700 ml of milk (no water or other fluids...she does not take anything except milk). Whenever, we try to feed her milk, she would rather play...and we've also noticed that she gets tired easily. The only time she will quietly take milk is when she is asleep in the middle of the night, when she can take about 120-140 ml a feed. The other problem is when she's tired she does not want to sleep and end up being very grumpy and keeps on crying (which leads to gas in the stomach, leading to more crying).

Her twin sister is the exact opposite, where she will take solids readily and when she's tired will fall asleep almost immediately. It is getting quite frustrating for my wife and I'm getting worried that something else may be wrong with my daughter.

If the weight measurement is correct, her weight is below the 3rd percentile and her height is on the 5th percentile for her age. At 11 months she should be eating finger foods and regular foods cut up in small pieces and she should be feeding herself (with her hands and possibly with a spoon) at 3 meals a day. Suggest trying a 'sippy' cup instead of the bottle, at meals, for her formula to help increase intake. After she is one year old and you switch to regular milk, have her drink nutrient dense drinks, such as Pediasure, instead of regular milk for additional calories and protein so she gains weight and grows.
