No appetite

No appetite

My 10 year old daughter has lost her appetite in the last 2 months, even the things she loved before. It is difficlut to get her out the door in the morning with a few good calories in her and then she hardly eats the lunch that she makes and chooses! We have talked about all the possible stressors, I have taken her to the doctor, he said maybe some reflux and provided an antacid (no real help)..we have rewarded eating her school lunch , and taken things away for comming home with everything (sandwich, apple..not touched) except the granola bar...Does it matter?Should we just let her eat nothing?

Her weight is just below the 75th percentile for her age which is good. Is she having a difficult time at school? Sometimes stress decreases the appetite. Suggest giving her milkshakes (milk, fruit, and ice cream blended) or yogurt smoothies (yogurt, fruit and ice cream blended) at meals to help her maintain and gain weight. Suggest letting her eat what she wants, plus the milkshakes, and not punishing her when she does not eat her lunch. Encourage her to help you prepare meals. Hopefully that will encourage her to eat. Hoped this helped you.
